CIFF is considered by MovieMaker magazine “one of the top 25 film festivals worth the entry fee”.

We think so too! Shorts, documentaries, and feature length narratives from every region of the globe are all welcomed. In addition to our regular programming and awards, we are launching Mavericks, an Official Competition for emerging 1st & 2nd time feature length filmmakers.

With the generous support of American Express, this juried competitive series will reward a director with $25,000 for their signature style and unique cinematic voice -- the largest international feature film prize in Canada! Who will be the NEXT Maverick?

It takes a lot of work to put this show together. In fact last year we required more than 40 staff and 400 volunteers to work 10,000 volunteer hours to make the festival a success. Not to mention fantastic sponsors and community partners.

It should be no surprise that we're going to need a little help this year as well.
